Product Details

This vintage, steel Omega Speedmaster ‘Ed White’ 105.003-65 watch from the mid 1960s is a beautiful example of a now iconic tool watch. It has its original, uniform black dial with subtle patina on the tritium hour markers. It also has its original, 1035 flat-link bracelet and '6' end-links. The watch has recently been serviced and is in excellent working condition.

Sized at 40mm, the pre-professional Speedmasters such as this ‘Ed White’ are most easily differentiated by the straight lug cases used and absence of crown guards, compared to the later, twisted bombe lugs. The case is in fantastic condition, and still has its original bevels visible. The case-back retains the Omega hippocampus, is engraved on the inside ‘105.003-65’, and comes with its original dustcover. Further to this, the watch also displays its original Dot over 90 tachymeter bezel, which is exceptionally well-preserved.

This ‘Ed White’ Speedmaster has its original tritium ‘stepped’ dial in excellent condition and features a raised Omega logo. The patina on the hour markers have aged evenly to a subtle yellow tone, which matches the early service-replacement hands well.

Powered by the famous calibre 321, it is a column wheel chronograph movement that is heralded to be one of the greatest ever produced. All pre-professional Speedmasters utilised this high-end calibre, before Omega eventually switched to the more economical, non-column wheel Cal. 861.

Colloquially referred to as the "Ed White" Speedmaster, the watch was worn by NASA Astronaut Edward White, when he became the first man to walk in space.

This Omega Speedmaster Pre-Professional comes comes with an Omega ‘1035’ flat-link bracelet, and ‘6’ end-links. It also has the correct early "Ω" crown and smaller, threaded pushers. It has an aged service replacement handset.

Viewings can be arranged in Central London by appointment.
